What do I wear to class?
Belly dance classes in Mumbai by Ritambhara Sahni recommends you wear leggings or tracks along with a T-shirt. Do not wear jeans as jeans cause a barrier to learn most of the belly dance moves and techniques and this would cost you to waste your session. Also do not wear harems, skirts or plazo’s as seeing your leg movements is very important. So definitely wear something in which you are comfortable to move about and we can see your leg movements.
What about footwear?
No footwear required. Belly dance is done barefooted but you can wear socks or peds if your feet are sensitive. If socks tend to slip your feet then you can invest in Jazz shoes or ballet shoes.
Do I need to show my stomach?
You don’t need to show your stomach if you do not wish to. It’s totally your comfort zone which is of utmost importance for us at Belly Dance Classes in Mumbai by Ritambhara Sahni.
I have never belly danced or danced before in my life. Are there any pre-requisites in terms of knowledge?
Not at all. You do not need to have any prior knowledge. Everything is taught to you from the very basics.
Do I get to perform?

Is it compulsory to perform?

How fast can I learn the dance form?
This dance art requires at least 3 months with us for any student to say that she knows belly dancing provided she regularly attends for 3 months. This is a guarantee from us at Belly dance classes in Mumbai by Ritambhara Sahni. The knowledge and experience you will gain at Belly dance classes in Mumbai by Ritambhara Sahni will definitely get you to say and feel the same but this is an assurance that with the first 2 turns at our institute you will realise that you can belly dance very easily and will feel awesome about yourself.
I have learnt Belly Dance from another school/ Institute, so can I join the higher levels and not the beginner’s levels?
Really really sorry to disappoint you but the answer to that is no. Every belly dance school/ institute has something different compiled in their beginner’s course. There could be certain similarities but it’s never the exact same content. So we at Belly dance classes in Mumbai by Ritambhara Sahni either recommend you continue back with the same school/Institute where you did your earlier levels or you start at Beginner’s with us.

I am 42 years old, can I join ?
YES YES YES , of course you can. All you need to be is above the age of 12 years. Belly Dance at Ritambhara Sahni’s Belly Dance Institute Mumbai is very safe for senior citizens as well provided as long as you are free from all medical issues. Will I lose weight?
Belly Dance is known for its health benefits. One of them being weight loss with core strengthening but we at Belly dance classes in Mumbai by Ritambhara Sahni would answer this as a yes and no. At the former levels to achieve the physical benefits of this art is difficult. The format of the classes is once a week for 2 hours at the beginner’s level. Belly Dance Institute Mumbai by Ritambhara Sahni does allow you to come and practice in all batches at all our centres. So coming more often and practicing wold make some difference but Belly dance classes in Mumbai by Ritambhara Sahni DOES NOT GAURANTEE WEIGHT LOSS. We only guarantee that you will learn the art of belly dancing.
How do I practice at home?
You can request us on our WhatsApp number [only if you’re a student] for the music & detailed choreography and we will WhatsApp it to you. Timings for the same is Monday to Friday between 12noon and 5pm.
Where can I get Arabic music?
You can ask the instructor for names [only if you’re a student] and download the music on your own.

Where do I buy these Belly Dance belts / Belly dance coin hip scarves and how would I know its the right one for me?
You can ask your instructor and she will guide you on how to chose your Belly dance belt / Belly dance coin hip scarf and where you could get it from. You could then either purchase it from places we recommend or any place of your choice.
What if I miss a class?
We at Belly dance classes in Mumbai by Ritambhara Sahni allow you to come and practice in all batches at all our centres. You can come in any of the other ongoing batches and cover up if you miss your class. The content for that week remains the same at all centres and in all batches.
How do I get a certificate for my levels that I have completed?
In order to get the certificate for your levels that you have completed we not only require complete attendance from you but we also conduct an examination of your techniques for the same. The exam is held separately on a separate day where we perfect your techniques with one hour dedicated to complete technique training and drilling until and unless you are perfect. Either Ritambhara Sahni or lead instructors at Belly Dance Institute Mumbai by Ritambhara Sahni then individually take your exam and hand over the certificate. We make the examination very easy for you. More details about the examination will be provided to you in your initial sessions.
Are there any physical limitations to learn belly dancing?
Though belly dancing is known to help female with many health issues, it can also aggravate certain conditions. If you have back and joint problems and also if you are pregnant, do consult with your doctor for the same before making a decision to join. Belly Dance Classes in Mumbai by Ritambhara Sahni is in no way responsible if any health issue arise after you have joint. So please consult your doctor if any health issues. We do NOT recommend you to join if you have Sciatica . Any other health issue please discuss with us and your doctor.
Can I take a trial session?
We deeply apologise for the same but the answer to that is no. Our formats don’t allow us to give a free/ paid trial session as on day 1 of our beginner’s course as we teach and demonstrate a lot of content which does not justify us giving a free/ paid trial session on day 1 of the beginner’s course. However we have created several videos for you to understand where you would stand and what you would achieve after a couple sessions at our Institute. Also all our videos are made with real students and no professionals so that you as an average potential student would know what to achieve and expect and would look like after a couple of sessions at Belly Dance Institute Mumbai by Ritambhara Sahni. Can I come and observe a class?
The answer is yes and no. You can definitely come and have a peak at the class and watch for a couple of minutes. You can meet us and get a vibe of the place and us. However to sit and watch and observe the whole class honestly disrupts the flow of our class and makes most of our students feel awkward and self – conscious and we at Belly Dance Institute Mumbai by Ritambhara Sahni would not like to do so to our lovely students. Can I bring my children/friends/relatives to the class?
Your friends and relatives will eventually be observers which is answered above this. Also for children we don’t have any separate rooms or care takers and children also cannot be observers as answered above. So we at Belly Dance Institute Mumbai by Ritambhara Sahni deeply apologise but NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO THE CLASS APART FROM THE REGISTERED STUDENTS.
Can men join? Are they allowed to the class?
Although some belly dance schools/ Institutes do teach men, we at Ritambhara Sahni’s Belly Dance Institute Mumbai do not teach men. Sorry to all the guys.
Observers are not allowed, but Men are strictly not allowed at any of our classes even to have a peak. Since these classes are only for females and no men are allowed, no male is allowed at all to have a peak also. We deeply apologise to all the men for the same but our event Hip-nosis is open to all.
Can I visit the studio where I would be learning?
Yes you can visit any of our studios at our centres which is Colaba, Khar and Andheri in their operational hours. We can WhatsApp or text you the address and timings.
